Men’s Soccer Blanked at American

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American netted a pair of second-half goals to come away with a 2-0 victory over the Army West Point men's soccer team in a Patriot League contest on Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field.
Army slips to 6-5-1 overall and 3-2-0 following the setback, while American improves to 7-4-3 and 4-1-0.
American's Tim Neumann broke a 0-0 tie with a goal in the 73rd minute before Joel Hart doubled the Eagles' advantage with a marker in the 77th minute. American scored both of its goals within a period of 4:13.
Army freshman Justin Stoll finished with five saves in the match.
"We have a lot of quality and unfortunately we weren't ourselves today," said head coach Russell Payne. "We'll move past this one quickly and look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday."

- American earns its second consecutive win over Army to improve to 12-3-4 in the all-time series between the Patriot League rivals.
- Stoll got the starting nod for the sixth game in a row in net, and started for the seventh time overall.
- Seniors Alex Jaroscak and Nick Williams, junior Marcos Arroyo, and freshmen Rex Epps, Zac McGraw and Keenan O'Shea all started against American and are the only six Cadets to draw starting duties in all 12 games this season.
- McGraw led the Black Knights with two shots.

- Hart scored American's second and final goal of the match in the 77th minute, just 4:13 after the Eagles grabbed the game's first advantage. Army made three quick substitutions following Hart's strike, but couldn't overcome the two-goal deficit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neumann gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 73rd minute on an assist from Garrett Muzikowski after beating a Black Knight defender to the ball in front of the net.
- Hart added an insurance goal just 4:13 later on a shot from close to 10 yards out.

- Army returns to Clinton Field for back-to-back games next week, beginning with a nonleague match against Stony Brook on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
