Women’s Tennis Departs for Lehigh’s PL Kickoff

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team returns to action this weekend at Lehigh's Patriot League Kickoff tournament, which will begin on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and run through Sunday afternoon.

The five-team tournament will consist of players from Army, Colgate, Lehigh, Loyola and Morgan State.

The Black Knights spent last weekend competing in the URI Invitational, where they won 14 of their 15 matches, dropping only four sets in the entire tournament. The mock dual format pitted Army against Providence, Siena and Bryant. Eight different Cadets earned two victories in the tournament.

For Army, Kirby Einck and Melanie Allen will compete in the first singles flight, while Genevieve McCormick and Nancy Porter are penciled into the second flight. The third singles flight will consist of Allyson Hayley and Steph Johnson and Danna Funaro and Gloria Son will contend in the fourth singles flight.

In doubles, Army will have Einck/Hayley and McCormick/Funaro in the first doubles flight, while Son/Johnson and Porter/Allen are in the second flight.
