Black Knights Shut Down Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Army West Point volleyball won its second consecutive game Friday night when it topped Bucknell 3-0 on the road.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MATCH NOTES
- Allie Strong had a standout performance as she led both sides with 15 kills for a career-high .714 hitting percentage. The freshmen also notched three service aces and five digs.
- Carolyn Bockrath also had a successful night with 10 kills. Olivia Fairfield totaled nine kills for a .412 percentage.
- Vanessa Wesley stood out at the net with seven total blocks, five of which were assisted. Rachel Gearon returned to the lineup for the Black Knights and recorded two kills and a block assist.
- Nikki Lum served as Army's primary setter and dished out 21 assists and also tallied eight digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights took a 10-point lead in the first set with a 15-5 advantage. They improved to 21-10 before the Bison staged a comeback.
- Bucknell went on to a 5-4 run, but the Cadets clinched 25 points to their 15.
- Set two was fairly similar with an end score of 25-17. Army jumped ahead 12-6 after scoring four-straight points.
- The Black Knights continued on to take a 20-11 lead before the Bison went on a 3-0 run to bring it within six.
- The Cadets went on to score five compared to Bucknell's one to clinch the set and to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- After taking an 11-8 lead in the final set of play, the Cadets scored seven-straight to lead by 10 points. Then some back and forth action brought the match to a close with the Black Knights on top, 25-17.

- Army continues its road trip at Lehigh Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
- Lehigh is 4-2 in the Patriot League, tied with Army for third place, and has an overall record of 9-11.
- The Mountain Hawks started out 4-0 in its Patriot League slate, but has lost the last two matches to Colgate and American, the top two teams in the conference.
- Lehigh rank fifth in the Patriot League with a .172 hitting percentage. They are 6-0 this season in matches with a .200 or higher hitting percentage.
