WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team returns to the national spotlight when it hosts American on Sunday afternoon at Christl Arena. Opening tip is 12 p.m. ET and the contest will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

STORYLINES
Last time out, Army dropped an 80-66 decision at Colgate and trailed by as many as 24 points in the game. Dylan Cox and Larry Toomey led the Black Knights offensively, who played without leading scorer Tanner Plomb, with 12 points apiece. Junior Mac Hoffman tied his career high with eight rebounds, while Kyle Wilson and Nathan Dodge each contributed nine points in the losing effort. Dodge added three steals in 12 minutes off the bench.
American comes into the contest after an 11-point home loss to Boston University. Rookie James Washington scored 15 points to lead the Eagles as American dropped its ninth consecutive game. Last season, Army won both meetings between the two sides.
Army has made at least 10 three-pointers in 12 games and is averaging 10.4 three-point field goals per contest this season, which is 10th in the country. Wilson is fifth in the nation in threes per game with 3.71 per game. As a team, Army is shooting 37.4 percent from three-point range (176-of-470). 37.5 percent of Army's points have come via the three-point field goal, a number that ranks 62nd in the nation (KenPom.com).
The Black Knights have the 12th-ranked offensive tempo in the country according to Ken Pomeroy. Army's offense has an adjusted tempo of 75.3, which is an estimate of the possessions per 40 minutes a team would have against the average D-I tempo. Army's average offensive possession length is 14.4 seconds, which is seventh in the nation.
The Black Knights lead the conference in assists per game (18.1) and are 14th nationally in that category. Army's assist-to-turnover ratio (1.26) also leads the conference.
Army has the top scoring offense in the Patriot League and is 23rd in the nation with 82.9 points per game. In addition, the Black Knights lead the conference in scoring margin (+6.2). Army is unbeaten (5-0) when four or more players score in double figures.
With his nine-point effort against Colgate, Wilson moved past Colgate's Adonal Foyle into eighth on the Patriot League's all-time scoring list with 1,782 career points. Wilson is three points shy of tying Navy's Greg Sprink, who scored 1,785 career points.
Senior center Kevin Ferguson leads the Patriot League in rebounding with 8.2 boards per game. Ferguson is 33rd in the country in offensive rebounds with a Patriot League-leading 3.41 per contest. He grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Bucknell and is second in the conference with four double-doubles.
In 2015-16, Army is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 4.4 boards per game. The last time an Army team had a rebounding margin of better than five per game was in 1970 (+5.3). The largest positive margin in program history was 11.2 rebounds in 1964.
Plomb has scored in double figures in every game this season and 26 straight games overall. He has 14 performances of at least 20 points during the streak, including a career-high 31-point effort in the win over Gardner-Webb. Plomb is averaging 23.7 points per game over his six contests, but missed the Colgate game.
NEW VISITOR POLICY AT WEST POINT
Starting Jan. 10, people using a driver's license from the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico or Washington will have to use another approved form of identification in order to enter West Point and all other military installations, due to federal guidelines. If you possess a valid Department of Defense issued identification card, this new requirement does not affect your ability to enter military installations.
Acceptable alternate forms of identification are a U.S. passport, a permanent resident card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (form 1-551), a foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or visa or an employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766).
