WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team looks to close non-conference play on a positive note when Monmouth visits Christl Arena on Monday afternoon. Opening tip is 4 p.m. ET and the contest will be broadcast online on the Patriot League Network.

STORYLINES
The Black Knights are coming off an 89-83 loss to Marist prior to the holiday break and Monmouth enters the contest riding a five-game winning streak after a 78-69 win at Cornell.
Army has made at least 10 three-pointers in nine of 11 games and is averaging 10.9 three-point field goals per contest this season, which is seventh in the country. Kyle Wilson is third in the nation in threes per game with 3.91. As a team, Army is shooting 38.2 percent from three-point range (120-of-314), which ranks 57th in the country. The Black Knights struggled last time out, going 7-for-37 from beyond in the loss to Marist. 39.9 percent of Army's points have come via the three-point field goal, a number that ranks 13th in the nation (KenPom.com).
The Black Knights have the ninth-ranked offensive tempo in the country according to Ken Pomeroy. Army's offense has an adjusted tempo of 76.1, which is an estimate of the possessions per 40 minutes a team would have against the average D-I tempo. Army's average offensive possession length is 14.3 seconds, which is 10th in the nation.
Army has the top scoring offense in the Patriot League and is 14th in the nation with 85.7 points per game. In addition, the Black Knights lead the conference in scoring margin (+9.5).
Senior Tanner Plomb has scored in double figures in every game this season and 21 straight games overall. He has nine performances of at least 20 points during the streak, including a career-high 31-point effort in the win over Gardner-Webb.
Plomb became the 30th player in Academy history to score 1,000 career points with his 18-point effort at Air Force. He now has 1,038 career points and 29th in school history in scoring. Plomb and classmate Kyle Wilson (1,678 career points) are the third teammates from the same graduating class to reach the 1,000-point mark, joining 1981 graduates Bob Brown (1,282) and Marty Coyne (1,126) and 1990 graduates Todd Mattson (1,122) and Steve Rothert (1,054).
Together, Wilson and Plomb were the top scoring duo in the Patriot League last year with an average of 33.3 points per game. Wilson was first in scoring in the conference at 17.5 points per game, while Plomb ranked fourth overall with a 15.8 points per game average. Plomb (21.3) and Wilson (17.9) are the top two scorers in the Patriot League in 2015-16. Wilson (43) and Plomb (38) have combined for 81 made three-pointers, which is second in the country to North Florida's duo of Trent Mackey (55) and Beau Beech (46), who have connected on 101 three-point field goals.
Senior point guard Dylan Cox is among the nation's leaders in assists per game. Cox leads the Patriot League and is 17th in the country with an average of 6.4 assists per night. Cox is third in Academy history with 390 career assists. As a team, Army is 11th in the nation in assists per game with 19.2.
Senior center Kevin Ferguson is second in the Patriot League in rebounding behind Lehigh's Tim Kempton (8.6) with 8.3 rebounds per game. Ferguson pulled in a career-high 13 boards against Marist and is 22nd in the country in offensive rebounds with a Patriot League-leading 3.8 per contest.
In 2015-16, Army is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 4.5 boards per game. The last time an Army team had a rebounding margin of better than five per game was in 1970 (+5.3). The largest positive margin in program history was 11.2 rebounds in 1964.
