Records Set as Men's Swim & Dive Falls to Navy

RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point men's swimming and diving team recorded six Academy and three plebe records in tonight's dual-meet with service academy rival Navy. The Black Knights fell to the Mids 213-86 at Thursday night's Star Meet.

The Black Knights started the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Josh Sembrano, Colin Kanzari, Austin Kong and Chris Szekely joined together to clock a 1:27.97.

Tom Ottman eclipsed the Academy record in the 1000 free by six seconds. He touched the wall in 9:12.02 to set a new Academy and plebe standard.
Devin McCall was Army's top finisher in the 200 free. He finished third with a time of 1:38.69. In the 100 back, Sembrano placed second after clocking a 48.56 to top his own Academy record.

Joe Daniels placed third in the 100 breast with an NCAA B-Cut time of 55.26. In the 200 fly, Sean Regan touched the wall in an Academy record and NCAA B-Cut time of 1:46.67, besting the record he previously set. Regan was followed by Jay Yang who was fifth with a time of 1:49.24.

In the 50 free, Szekely (20.05) and Brandon McCredie (20.10) went one-two, both with NCAA B-Cut times. McCredie's time broke the plebe record that was held by Szekely.

Szekely then broke his own Academy record when he won the 100 free with an NCAA B-Cut time of 43.77. McCredie followed in third after clocking a 45.01.

Sembrano (1:47.34), Matt McPheters (1:47.55) and Michael Stanchi (1:47.60) finished second through fourth in the 200 back for the Black Knights with all three times being faster than the current Academy record. Sembrano claimed the Academy record, while McPheters earned the plebe record.

In the 200 breast, Daniels was Army's top finisher with a time of 2:00.86. He was followed by Ander Thompson (2:02.97) and Sam Mo (2:03.15) who were fifth and sixth.

Ottman was third in the 500 free after touching the wall in 4:29.18, while McCall was sixth in 4:35.11. Austin Kong finished fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 48.74 and was followed by Regan who clocked a 48.80.

In the 200 IM, Yang placed third after finishing in 1:50.64. McPheters was fourth after recording a 1:51.04.

The Black Knights closed-out the swimming portion of the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay. McCredie, Szekely, McCall and Evin Rude joined together to touch the wall in 2:57.28, an Academy record.

Joe Frullaney placed third off the 1-meter with 293.63 points. Edward Emery followed in fifth with 236.85 points. Emery also competed on the 3-meter and tallied 199.05 points.

The Black Knights now fall to 4-1 on the season and will be back in action after the New Year when they host Lehigh and Bucknell Jan. 8-9.
