Men’s Soccer to Play American in PL Quarterfinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The sixth-seeded Army West Point men's soccer team is set to face third-seeded American in a Patriot League quarterfinal match in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday at 2:05 p.m.
Army and American played to a 0-0 draw earlier this season on Oct. 17 at West Point. The last three games between the Black Knights and the Eagles ended in 0-0 draws, including two last season. The two teams met in the quarterfinals last postseason and ended in a 0-0 draw before Army earned a 4-3 win in the penalty kick shootout to advance to the Patriot League semifinals.
American holds a 10-3-4 advantage in the all-time series between the schools that dates back to 1994. The Black Knight are 0-0-1 in the postseason versus the Eagles after last year's quarterfinal match ended in a draw.

• Army dropped its regular-season finale at Bucknell on Saturday as the Black Knights fell to the Bison, 4-0.
• Senior goalkeeper Chris Britt made three saves in the first 63:03 before being replaced by sophomore Christian Nolasco, who made one stop in his career debut.
• Senior Cody Guerry leads Army with six goals, three assists and 15 points on the season, while juniors Christian Ollen and Nick Williams and sophomore Shaban Abousaud all have two goals.
• The Black Knights are 7-3-3 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament, including a penalty kick shootout win over American in last year's quarterfinals and a double-overtime setback at Boston University in the semifinals.
AMERICAN (12-4-3, 5-2-2) NOTES
• American played to a 2-2 tie in its regular-season finale on Saturday against Lehigh.
• The Eagles trailed, 1-0, at the half before Chris Fanet and Joe Iraola scored to put American up, 2-1. Lehigh eventually equalized as the contest ended in a tie.
• Goalkeeper Dylan Hobert stopped four shots in the draw.
• American, which leads the Patriot League with 2.00 goals per game, is led in the scoring department by Joel Hart (6 goals) and Vinny Barone (5 goals).
