Men’s Soccer Falls in Regular-Season Finale

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell scored three first-half goals during a 4-0 victory over the Army West Point men's soccer team during a Patriot League match on Saturday afternoon at Emmitt Field.
Army finishes the regular season 5-7-5 overall and 3-3-3 in the league and will enter next week's Patriot League Tournament as the sixth seed. Bucknell improves to 7-6-5 and 3-3-3 and is locked in as the fifth seed in the conference tournament.
The Black Knights will face third-seeded American in the Patriot League quarterfinals for the second season in a row on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Bucknell will take on fourth-seeded Lehigh in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.
Bucknell took control of the match early with back-to-back goals that came 2:30 apart in the first half. Jesse Klug scored after controlling a cross from Connor Willings to put the Bison ahead 1-0 in the 12th minute before Sebastiaan Blickman doubled the hosts lead after receiving a quick pass from Justin Galiani and scoring in the middle of Army's 18-yard box in the 14th minute.
Klug nearly added his second marker of the afternoon, but his attempt deflected off of the Black Knights' crossbar in the 19th minute.
The Bison extended their advantage to 3-0 after Austin Lenart delivered a cross from the left side in the 18-yard box to Andrew Leischner, who scored at the right post in the 28th minute.
Senior Tommy Jaeger registered Army's only shot on goal of the opening half, with an attempt that was saved by Bucknell keeper Clarke Fox in the 30th minute.
Army senior Chris Britt made a save on a scoring opportunity from Patrick Figgie with 43 seconds remaining in the first half before watching a follow-up header sail high three seconds later. Britt finished with three saves during the first 63:03 of the match before being replaced by sophomore Christian Nolasco, who made one stop in the final 26:57.
Zack Rockmore headed home a corner kick from Adam Bradshaw three minutes into the second half to put Bucknell on top, 4-0, early in the period.
The Black Knights had shots in the 54th and 57th minutes, respectively, with senior Cody Guerry sending a shot wide of the left post before junior Trase Stapley directed an attempt over the crossbar 2:18 after Guerry's chance.
Britt came up with of a pair of stops on shots from Lenart and Galiani in the 55th and 59th minutes, respectively, to keep the score 4-0.
Army's backline blocked away a chance off the foot of Rockmore following a Bucknell corner kick in the 71st minute before Nolasco came up with his first career save on an attempt from Klug in the 80th minute.
Army enters the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 American in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The matchup will be the same as last postseason, when the sixth-seeded Black Knights defeated the third-seeded Eagles in penalty kicks in the Patriot League quarterfinals.
