Yang Earns AAA Athlete of the Week Recognition

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After a record-breaking weekend at the Terrier Invite, Army West Point men's swimmer Jay Yang was named the AAA Athlete of the Week.
The freshman placed third in the 200 IM while capturing the Academy and plebe record. His time of 1:49.52 topped the previous record time of 1:49.56 that was set by Army Hall of Famer John VanSant in 1986.
Yang broke another Academy and plebe record during Saturday's finals, and also notched a Boston University pool record. He won the 400 IM by over three seconds with a time of 3:56.04.
The Las Vegas, Nev., native was also part of the first-place 800 free relay team that finished in 6:39.74. Yang completed his leg of the race in 1:40.70.
The swimming and diving team will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 10, when the Cadets travel to Annapolis, Md., for the annual Army-Navy meet.
