WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team enters Saturday's regular-season finale against Bucknell in control of its postseason destiny. Saturday's match against the Bison in Lewisburg, Pa., begins at noon and can be seen live online on the Patriot League Network.
Currently, Army is tied with Lehigh for the final spot in the Patriot League Tournament. The Black Knights and Mountain Hawks have identical 2-4-2 conference records and eight points apiece, but Army holds the tiebreaker based on its 2-0 head-to-head victory earlier this season. If Army and Lehigh are tied after Saturday's action, Army would finish higher than Lehigh in the final regular-season standings.
A win over Bucknell will guarantee Army three points and a berth in the 2015 Patriot League Tournament. Army can finish as high as fifth with a victory combined with a win by Lafayette over Colgate.
If Army and Bucknell play to a draw, the Black Knights will finish the season with nine points, but will have to rely on positive results around the conference in order to secure a playoff berth.
If Army ties Bucknell, the Black Knights will need Lehigh and American to play to a draw on Friday afternoon.
If Lehigh and American tie, Army will advance with a draw plus a win or draw by Loyola against Holy Cross (1 p.m. Saturday) AND a win or draw by Colgate against Lafayette (7 p.m. Saturday).
If Army ties Bucknell, a win by Lehigh, American, Holy Cross or Lafayette will eliminate the Black Knights from advancing to the postseason tournament.
