Army West Point volleyball's head coach Alma Kovaci Lee added Julia Anderson to the coaching staff in March 2022.
Anderson joins the staff as an assistant coach after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Columbia University. While with the Lions, she worked primarily with setters. Anderson guided junior setter, Audrey Cheng, to join the 2,000 assists list in Anderson's first season with Columbia helping her finish third on the all-time assists list.
Prior to Columbia, Anderson did a two-season stint at Fairfield University as an assistant coach. She coached setter Alexis Rich, who was a unanimous pick for the 2018 MAAC Rookie Team. Along with Rich's success, Anderson was key to Manuela Nicolini earning MAAC Setter of the Year and First Team All-MAAC honors following the 2017 season. During Anderson's first season, Fairfield won the 2017 MAAC Championship.
Anderson spent time with the USA NY club, coaching there from 2014-15 and from 2017-present. During her time at the club, she gained experience coaching on an international stage, and she was the head coach as the club took part in the 2018 and 2019 Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia..
Before beginning her coaching career, Anderson was a three-year letter winner at Delaware after spending her freshman season at Maryland. At Delaware, Anderson totaled 495 digs, 74 kills, 71 blocks and 46 aces, finishing her career ranked seventh in school history with 2,406 career assists and eighth with 8.07 assists per set. She graduated from the University of Delaware in May 2017 with a bachelor's degree in organizational and community leadership. Anderson is originally from Cornwall, N.Y.
