Indoor 2019-20: Opened the season with a third place finish in the 800m run at the Army Open...won the 4x800 and finished eighth in the 1000m at the Nittany Lion Challenge...placed fifth in the DMR and seventh in the 800m run at the Keydet Invitational...placed seventh in the DMR at the Penn State National Open...finished sixth in the 800m at the Army-Navy Star Meet...placed third in the mile at the Giegengack Invitational...won the mile at the West Point Tune Up.
Cross Country 2019: Opened the season with a ninth place finish at the Army-Maine Dual Meet..placed fourth at the Army Open.
Outdoor 2019: Finished fifth in the mile at the Ben Brown Invitational...placed ninth in the 3000m steeplechase at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic...posted a sixth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase at the Army-Navy Star Meet...closed out the year with a 15th place finish at the West Point Twilight.
Indoor 2018-19: Opened the year with a ninth palce finish in the 800m and a 15th place finish in the mile at the Nittany Lion Challenge...placed second in the DMR at the Keydet Invitational...finished fourth in the 800m run at the Army-Navy Star Meet.
Cross Country 2018: Placed seventh at the Maine Dual with a time of 19:55.8...finished 21st at the Army Open, crossing the line at 21:22.8...finished 21st at the Army-Navy Star Meet, clocking in at 24:11.39...placed 90th at the Patriot League Championship with a time of 24:28.7.
Outdoor 2018: Placed fifth in the mile at the Ben Brown Invite to start the season... at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic finished 10th in the 3000 steeplechase...
Indoor 2017-18: Started the season with a third place finish at the Ted Nelson Invite in the distance medley relay... Finished sixth in the 4x400m relay at the Penn 8-Team Select... Earned seventh in the 800m run and sixth in the distance medley relay at the Penn State National Invitational... Ended the season with a third place finish in the 4x800m relay at the Patriot League Championships.
Cross Country 2017: Ran in four of five possible competitions… placed 12th overall with a time of 19:40.2 at the Maine Dual… landed in 262nd at the Paul Short Run with a time of 23:05… at the Navy Dual clocked in a time of 21:25.2 which was good for 21st place…finished her freshman season at the Patriot League Championships in the 69th spot with a time of 23:14.65.
Background: Shimko comes to West Point from Tamaqua Area High School…school record holder in two events, recording 2:16.48 in the 800 meters and 4:05 in the 4x400 meter relay…state medalist in 2016 and 2017, placing eighth and then fourth in the 800 meters…member of the National Honor Society, National Science Society, National Language Society, National Spanish Society, and National Tri-Music Society…majoring in mechanical engineering.
