Frank Nucaro enters his 11th season with the Army West Point sprint football program after joining the staff in 2010. Nucaro bring 30 years of high school football coaching experience with him to West Point.
In 2015, Nucaro coached CSFL co-MVP Philip Choi, who led the league in sacks and tackles for loss in addition to captaining Army’s defense to a program-record five consecutive shutouts to start the 2015 campaign.
In his first season at West Point as the Defensive Coordinator, Nucaro's Army defense held opponents to just 68 rushing yards per game, while tallying 15 sacks over 6 games. A pair of Cadets were named to the 1st Team All-CSFL as linebacker Carlos Cook and lineman Eric Kanney were honored, while LB Bryan Girouard, LB Eric Shirley, DL Toby Acosta, and DL Tyler Bambrick all earned second-team recognition.
Nucaro spent 16 years at Valhalla High School (N.Y.), serving 12 years as an offensive and defensive lines coach before being promoted to head coach in 2006. At Valhalla, Nucaro helped lead to an undefeated state championship season in 1996. He was named 2009 League Coach of the Year after leading the Vikings to a league championship.
Nucaro, a retired physical education teacher at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y., resides in Valhalla, N.Y., with his wife, Paula. They have two daughters. Alyssa is a teacher in Shelby County Schools, Memphis, Tn., and Dana is the equipment manager for Army's men's and women's rugby teams as well as the men's and women's basketball teams.
