Bri Strecker enters her third season as an assistant coach with the Army softball program.

As the longest tenured member of Army’s staff, Strecker holds a variety of responsibilities within the program. In addition to overseeing Army’s pitchers, catchers and working with the Black Knights’ hitters, she also serves as Army’s recruiting coordinator and is charged with managing the Black Knights’ summer and winter camp programs.

The program has experienced a lot of success with Strecker on the staff, having reached the Patriot League Tournament in both of her seasons with the Black Knights while also finishing above .500 in league play.

In her first season with Army, the team set a new program mark for wins in a single season with 39.

Strecker joined the West Point staff after a two-year stint as an assistant at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.

During her first season at Tufts in 2015, Strecker helped guide the program to its third consecutive NCAA Division III National Championship after the team completed a perfect 51-0 season. She was part of the Tufts coaching staff that was named Division III National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Coaching Staff of the Year following the championship run in 2015.

Strecker aided in another successful season in 2016, helping the Jumbos to a 30-12 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Regionals. She worked with six all-region selections and three All-Americans in 2015, while mentoring five more all-region players in 2016.

Strecker was responsible for a number of recruiting responsibilities at Tufts, including assisting with the team’s recruiting database, working various recruiting camps for the school and helping to plan visits for prospective student-athletes. In addition to those responsibilities, Strecker also worked closely with the hitting game and with the team’s catchers. Strecker helped Tufts batters reach 48 home runs during the 2016 season, which ranked fourth in the nation.

“From the moment I stepped on post, West Point has felt like home,” Strecker said upon her hiring. “I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be working with the future leaders of the United States Army as well as all of the staff here at West Point. I cannot think of a more admirable place to continue my coaching career. ”

Prior to her position at Tufts, Strecker served as the recruiting coordinator for the women’s basketball team at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass.

She spent the 2014 season as an assistant coach at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass., and helped lead the Bears to a 32-14 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Super Regionals.

Strecker graduated from Bridgewater State in January 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Anthropology, following a four-year playing career for the Bears.

Strecker played catcher all four years and earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year honors as a senior. She was a two-year team captain and a two-time selection to the All-MASCAC first team, while leading Bridgewater State to a MASCAC Championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013.
