Sport Oversight: Men's Gymnastics
Shane Bell is currently in his twelfth season with the Army West Point Athletic Association and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Operations & Event Management in 2019. In 2023, Bell assumed the additional responsibilities of overseeing facilities and capital projects. He is charged with all aspects of capital projects and facilities management, including construction of new facilities, major and minor renovations, and routine maintenance. This includes both near-term projects and strategic objectives as directed by the Director of Athletics and Deputy Athletics Director.
As the Associate Athletic Director for Event Operations, Facilities & Capital Projects, Bell oversees the event management department including game day operations, scheduling, game contracts and the hosting of conference and NCAA championships held at West Point, as well as neutral site competitions. Bell also oversees procurement and contract management for the AWPAD.
While at West Point, Bell has played a critical role in the execution of the annual Army-Navy Football game and numerous Patriot League and Atlantic Hockey Association championships. Bell was the championship director for the 2017 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships and led the coordination of an NHL exhibition game in 2016 and Army-Navy Baseball held at Fenway Park in 2018. Bell has also played an important role in hosting national and professional team visits, including the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers, Team USA Basketball, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York City Football Club and Atlanta Falcons visits.
In 2011, Bell was named Team Operations Coordinator where he managed the travel operations of all 28 Army athletic teams before being promoted to Assistant Director of Operations in 2013, Associate Director of Operations in 2014 and Director of Event Management & Championships in 2018.
Bell graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in 2006, where he earned a degree in history with a minor in political science and was a four-year letterwinner on the baseball team. He earned his master's degree in Sports Business Management from Manhattanville College in 2009. Professionally, Bell is a member of the Collegiate Event & Facility Management Association (CEFMA) and is Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt course certified.
Bell and his wife Jennifer reside in Marlboro, NY with their sons, Riley and Brady, and their dogs Quinn and Zibby.
