David Allen Joined the Army Athletic Association in July of 1989.
Allen provides healthcare to the cross country, track & field and rifle teams.
Throughout his tenure at Army West Point, Allen has been an athletic trainer for 19 teams including football, wrestling, rugby and the rabble rousers. As a Senior Associate Athletic Trainer, he administratively teaches CPR and CPR for the Professional Rescuer to the Army coaching staffs, athletic trainers, and strength coaches. He is also in charge of property, inventory and maintenance for all to the athletic training rooms.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Allen attained his Bachelor of Science from SUNY Oswego in industrial art & technology education. While teaching IA for the New York City Board of Education, he volunteered athletic training hours with Brooklyn College’s athletic department.
After Brooklyn College, Allen attended Wagner College as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer to earn Post Baccalaureate credits he would need to enter the Master of Science program at Indiana University – Bloomington. At Indiana, he worked and learned with the Hoosier’s football, cross country, track & field and men’s soccer programs, among other sports.
After graduating from Indiana in 1986, Allen was hired at St. Peter’s College where he implemented programs for the care and reduction of athletic injuries as an assistant athletic trainer until being hired at Army three years later.
In 2014, Allen graduated from the Hudson Valley School of Massage Therapy and is a Nationally Board Certified and N.Y. State Licensed Massage Therapist.
Outside of AWPAA, he has also worked with Olympic athletes doing internships at the Olympic Training Centers in Lake Placid, N.Y., and Colorado Springs, Colo. Allen spent several years with the ESPN Extreme Games, working mainly with bicycle stunt jumping. The year after the Berlin Wall came down, he traveled through Europe with the U.S. Junior Luge Team. He has also taken many trips with the U.S. Track & Field Team including being the Head Athletic Trainer for the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
In 2019, Allen was honored to be selected as an Athletic Trainer/Massage Therapist to the Pan American Games where he provided healthcare to the U.S. Track & Field Team.
Allen is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, American Massage Therapy Association, and The American Red Cross. David is a fan of science fiction and his hobbies include playing the piano and guitar.
Allen currently lives in Highland Falls, N.Y.
