Men's and women's swimming and diving head coach Mickey Wender welcomed Nicki Stanley to the program as an Assistant Coach in the summer of 2016. Stanley joined the Black Knights following a two-year stretch as the Assistant Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Ohio Wesleyan.
Prior to her time with the Battling Bishops, Stanley spent two years as the Head Coach, Aquatics Director and Campus Visitation Coordinator at the College of St. Mary – Nebraska. Throughout her two years at the helm of the program, the Flames ranked second in the nation among all divisions in team grade-point average during all four semesters.
Stanley began her coaching career at Wheeling Jesuit University, serving as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s and women’s teams while earning her M.S. in Organizational Leadership. She helped guide the men's team to an Appalachian Swimming Conference Title in 2010 and 2011, while the women's team finished runner-up in 2010 and 2011. The coaching staff was awarded ASC Men's Team Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011, along with the ASC Male and Female Swimmer of the Year awards.
Stanley is a 2009 graduate of Fairmont State University where she spent four years on the team. She served as the team's captain of the Fighting Falcons from 2006 to 2008. In 2005, Stanley was named an Academic All-American and helped the Women's Team earn the top spot in the Division II Academic Championships in the United States. She has been a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa Physical Science and Education Honorary and is an active member of the Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority since 2007.
