Evan Eigner joined the Army West Point Gymnastics coaching staff in the summer of 2019 and now enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the program.
Eigner has had a variety of experiences coaching both men and women athletes at the international, collegiate, and club level. A student-athlete at Ohio State and Temple, Eigner has had prior coaching stops at Temple and Maryland as well as at Philadelphia Boys’ Gymnastics, AJS Pancott Gymnastics, and Silver Stars Gymnastics. Eigner has also coached at several gymnastics camps, including Ball State, Michigan, NC State, Penn, and International Gymnastics Camp. He served as Head of Delegation and coach for Team Puerto Rico at the 2022 Paris World Challenge Cup and Head Coach of the Maccabi USA’s Senior Women’s Gymnastics Team, leading the group to a team silver medal at the 2022 World Maccabiah Games in Israel.
Eigner comes to West Point after serving as an assistant coach at Temple, where he played an integral role in rebuilding the program during a successful 2019 season. He helped coach the team to a third-place finish at the USAG Collegiate Nationals and oversaw the team's social media and marketing. Eigner also helped Head Coach Jesse Kitzen-Abelson and the Owls plan the inaugural Level 4 Region 7 Championships and transition into the GymACT conference.
Prior to his time at Temple, Eigner was an assistant coach at Maryland with the women's gymnastics team from 2016-18. He was the primary coach on floor and vault and held a variety of administrative responsibilities. Eigner's time in College Park was highlighted by a strong 2018 campaign in which the Terrapins went 21-8, beat five top-25 teams, and achieved its highest NCAA Regionals score in program history
Eigner spent two seasons as a student-athlete at Ohio State competing for the men's gymnastics team. During his time with the Buckeyes, he helped the program to the 2016 Big Ten Championship and a third-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Championship. He was an Academic All-Big Ten and a College Gymnastics Association First Team All-America Scholar Athlete, while also serving as the team's community service coordinator. Eigner also acclimated himself with the athletic department's external operations office, working as an event management intern and a Buckeye Marketing Academy student assistant.
Prior to his time in Columbus, Eigner spent two seasons on Temple's men's gymnastics team. He helped lead the team to the 2013 ECAC Championship and placed third on rings at the 2014 ECAC Championship. He also served as a sports club supervisor for Temple's campus recreation department.
Eigner competed under his father, Fred Turoff, at Temple. Turoff was a U.S. World Team member in 1970 and an Olympic assistant coach for Team USA in 1992. He is a member of the Maccabi USA Hall of Fame, Temple Athletics Hall of Fame, and USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Eigner serves as the Operations Chair for the College Gymnastics Association. He graduated from Ohio State in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Industry and earned a master's degree in Sport Management from West Virginia in 2022.
