Lawrence Scott returned to his alma mater in May 2018 to serve as the Director of Player Development for the Army West Point football team.
In this role he directly oversees the personal, professional and leader development modules of the Army football team. He also provides academic, personal, emotional and spiritual support for the team, ensuring they have all the resources they need in all areas of life to be successful.
Prior to coming back to the Banks of the Hudson, Lawrence spent a year as the executive officer/young adults pastor at Lively Stone Church of God in St. Louis, Mo. While there, he oversaw and facilitated daily office functions and actively facilitated ministry events for young adults beginning at age 18. Scott also handled facility and property management as well as staff schedules to include services, appointments, meetings and construction projects.
Before moving to Missouri, Lawrence spent time in Texas serving the U.S. Army in a variety of different capacities. His last task was serving as a battalion staff officer at Fort Bliss in 2017. There, he oversaw the Warfighter simulation for iron focus in preparation for the National Training Center. He also actively managed personnel on various special assignments.
In 2016 at Fort Bliss, Lawrence served as a maintenance and logistics platoon leader as well as a company safety officer. During his time as a platoon leader, he directed activities supporting operational readiness, professional development, welfare and morale of 40 soldiers and noncommissioned officers. He also actively managed all aspects of training, maintenance and supply.
Lawrence was able to effectively influence those within and outside of the organization to achieve results. He personally counseled and coached members of the team to improve moral and comradery. Another highlight to his time as a platoon leader was that he improved the physical fitness of that platoon by an average of 21 points in just six months.
As safety officer, Lawrence directed activities and enforced standards of safety for over 120 personnel, a maintenance facility and an office building. He actively enforced occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) and Department of Defense standards of safety to include, but not limited to the implementation of fire safety officers, motorcycle safety programs, mounting and dismounting equipment, vehicle recovery training and more.
Lawrence also served as a Gravity Youth minister at Destiny Family Christian Center where he led a team of volunteers and youth leaders in conducting services, sermon series, and small groups for middle school and high school youth.
In January 2019, Lawrence joined the John Maxwell team. He’s been certified by John Maxwell to use their leadership materials. Those tools along with his own personal experiences help to better his leader development modules that he incorporates within the team.
Lawrence was a four-year varsity player on the U.S. Military Academy’s football team. He graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in foreign language. While at the Academy, Lawrence was a West Point FCA Huddle leader where he oversaw and facilitated weekly chapel and bible study services for the football team.
