Delbert Tyler II

Delbert Tyler II joined the Army West Point Football staff as the defensive recruiting coordinator in April of 2021.Â
Tyler comes to West Point after spending the past three seasons with the Robert Morris Colonels in a number of different coaching roles. Most recently, Tyler coached the tight ends group in addition to serving as the team's recruiting coordinator in the 2020 season. The year prior, Tyler coached the outside linebackers to an impressive list of accomplishments in the 2019 season. With Tyler's help, the Colonels finished 9th in the FCS in pass defense efficiency, 14th in FCS in passing yards allowed (175.2 ypg) and 25th in FCS in turnovers & turnover margin while three of his players finished top 10 in tackles in the NEC.Â
His first role with the Colonels was in the 2018 season when he assisted int he coaching of the defensive line in addition to his work on the recruiting trail.Â
Tyler previously held similar roles at Eastern Michigan University (2017), University of Findlay (2016) and ASA College of Miami (2015) before his time at RMU.Â
The former college standout played four years of football for Hampton University from 2010-13. Tyler was a four year starter with the Pirates as a linebacker, garnering three all-conference honors and finishing his career second on the Hampton all-time tackles list with 386. His standout college career earned him an invite to the Pittsburgh Steelers Rookie Mini Camp after his graduation in 2014.Â
Tyler earned his degree in business management from Hampton in 2014.Â
