Captain Zach Price begins his second year as the Director of Operations for the Army West Point baseball program for 2016-17.
A native of Cantonment, Fla., Price competed on Army’s baseball team for four years and served as team co-captain during his senior year alongside classmate JT Watkins. Price is a three-time All-Patriot League honoree, earning first-team honors as a freshman, junior, and senior. He is tied atop the Patriot League all-time runs scored ledger (174), holds the Patriot League career walks record (125) and lists third in conference history with 241 career base hits. During his senior season, Price was dubbed 2012 Patriot League Tournament MVP, 2012 Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year, named a Senior CLASS Second-Team All-American and was selected as a first-team member of the Capital One Academic All-America Division I baseball team. Price was also a member of the inaugural All-Patriot League Baseball Academic Team and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each of his four seasons.
Following his senior season, Price was chosen by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American Committee to receive the Rawlings Gold Glove at the second base position for Division I.
Price graduated from West Point with a degree in Operations Research in 2012, before commissioning as a Field Artillery officer. Upon completion of the basic course at Fort Sill in May of 2013 his first assignment was to the 3rd Infantry Division Artillery at Fort Stewart, Georgia. A member of 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery, he performed duties as a Company Fire Support Officer and Firing Battery Platoon Leader.
