Baseball Run-Rules Bucknell in Series Opener Friday
April 17, 2026 | Baseball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – A glance at the final score wouldn't suggest Army faced any deficits on Friday at Doubleday Field, but the Black Knights recovered from an early two-run hole to defeat the Bucknell Bison 14-3 in seven innings, with the run-rule in effect.
Â
After Army (20-15, 10-7) took the lead with a three-run bottom of the first, it was all Black Knights, who scored seven runs unanswered from the fourth inning onwards.Â
Â
Chris Barr tied the all-time program record with his 15th career triple in the sixth inning, with the base knock coming with the bases loaded in the sixth and being capped off by a throwing error, allowing Barr to score and secure the club's 11-run lead.
Â
Andrew Berg pitched all seven innings Friday, for both his and the team's second complete game in 2026. The senior struck out a season-high six while walking just one and surrendering five hits, working around home runs in the first and the third for his only runs allowed. He moved to 5-2 in 2026.
Â
William Parker launched a three-run homer in the first, his seventh home run of the season to surpass his total from a season ago. Then in the second, Josiah Overbeek, Thomas Schreck and Parker each walked with the bases loaded, before Jack Quinlan collected a sacrifice fly to make it 7-2.
Â
In the fifth, Zac Farrell doubled to left field, bringing home Carter Hewitt before a Barr sacrifice fly and a Parker RBI hit by pitch gave the Black Knights a 10-3 lead.Â
Â
Paul Andrzejewski was hit by a pitch in the sixth before Farrell and Overbeek walked, setting up Barr's bases-clearing triple to open the floodgates.Â
