Football’s Owen Walter Named to 2026 Patrick Mannelly Award Preseason Watch List

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point football long snapper Owen Walter has been named to the 2026 Patrick Mannelly Award Preseason Watch List.
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill. is one of 20 players named to the watch list for the 8th Patrick Mannelly Award.
In 2025 and 2024, Walter served as the starting long snapper in each game, with three total tackles collected in 2025, including two in Army's win at UTSA on Nov. 29. In 2026, Walter will serve as a team captain alongside center Brady Small.
The Patrick Mannelly Award, named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, will be presented again this season to the player judged by a panel of national experts to be the best FBS long snapper.
Army opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 vs. Bryant at Michie Stadium. Season and single-game tickets are on-sale here.
