July 16, 2026 | Football
IRVING, Texas – Army West Point Football's Andon Thomas was named 2025-26 American Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday.
Thomas graduated in May 2026, having majored in Chemical Engineering. As a senior in 2025, the Liberty Hill, Texas native started all 13 games and led the team in both total tackles (113) and solo tackles (66), with five total tackles for loss while serving as team co-captain.
The linebacker was named to the American Conference Second Team All-Conference list in 2025.
Thomas helped lead Army to a 7-6 overall record in 2025, with wins Big 12 foe Kansas State, academy rival Air Force and in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs. UConn.
The American Conference selected a scholar-athlete of the year for each of the league's sponsored sports, plus a men's and women's at-large. Selections for the 22 Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, as well as the Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, are made by the Academic Committee on the basis of academic credentials and athletic performance. Each conference school may nominate one student-athlete per sport who has achieved senior academic standing as determined by the institution. A winner is chosen from each of the conference's 20 sponsored sports in addition to at-large selections from sports not sponsored by the conference.
Army opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 vs. Bryant at Michie Stadium. Season and single-game tickets are on-sale here.
