Coonfare, Flanders Named to Patriot League Academic All-League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore outfielder Breanna Coonfare and junior pitcher Katelyn Flanders both earned postseason honors on Wednesday, being named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team.
Voting for the Patriot League Softball's Academic All-Patriot League Team is conducted by the League's softball sports information directors.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Breanna Coonfare, a sophomore outfielder from Kansas City, Missouri, played and started in all but one game for the Black Knights this season, finishing the season batting .300 with 45 hits, 31 runs, 29 RBIs and a team-best 10 doubles.
Coonfare was also one of three Black Knights to be named to the Patriot League All-League Second Team. The sophomore is currently majoring in behavioral sciences with an applied psychology concentration and holds a 3.75 GPA.
As for Katelyn Flanders, the Jackson, Georgia native earns the All-Academic Team honor for the second straight season. The junior finished the season with a 3.06 ERA, good for second on the team, while adding a team-high 102 strikeouts, both good for third in the Patriot League. She also logged a .238opposing batting average.
Flanders is currently majoring in nuclear engineering and holds an impressive 3.93 GPA.
Coonfare, Flanders and the rest of the Black Knights will begin their postseason journey on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. as they take on the No. 2 seed Colgate in the 2026 Patriot League Tournament in Boston. The game at the BU Softball Field will also stream live on ESPN+.
