Track and Field Concludes West Point Twilight

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point track and field program concluded its regular season schedule on Thursday evening, as it hosted the West Point Twilight at Shea Stadium.
The Black Knights recorded 12 event wins and a number of podium and top 10 finishes. A large portion of Army athletes competing were underclassman, while many top performers spent Thursday resting and recovering in anticipation of the Patriot League Championships next week in Annapolis.
Army's first win of the day came via freshman Van Carter, who won the pole vault at 5.00m. In the women's pole vault Elce Walsh also recorded the win at 3.60m. Taylor Fuentespina and Sarah Connor finished behind her in second and third respectively.
Zane Hicke, a junior, recorded the win in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.07m. In the women's high jump, Zoe Whaley (1.69m) and Thai Douglas (1.65m) finished second and third.
Army dominated the women's shot put, as Jordan Hecht took first place with a throw of 16.22m. Sara Sahadi (14.42m) and Carly Borgelt (13.69m) finished second and third.
Hecht (49.66m) and Sahadi (42.82m) also finished first and second in the discus throw.
The women dominated the 100m, sweeping the top four spots. Chadon Foreman was the fastest of the group, winning the race at 12.07.
Senior Lindsay Cook won the 3000m steeplechase at 11:23.20. In the 100m hurdles, the Black Knights finished in each of the top three spots, with Makenzie Baisch in first at 14.70.
In the women 400m hurdles, Sabrina Sardar was first at 1:01.68. Saige Acosta won the 200m, while Foreman and Laney Morton finished behind her in second and third.
The Black Knights closed out the night sweeping the podium in the women's 1500m. Chloe Esponda was first with a time of 4:37.76, while Erika Nyberg and Kara Sinnott were second and third.

Army will travel to Annapolis next weekend for the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
