No. 13/14 Women’s Lacrosse’s Historic Season Comes to an End in the NCAA Second Round

BALTIMORE, Md. – Army West Point women's lacrosse ended the 2026 season with a loss to Johns Hopkins (16-4) in the NCAA Second Round in Baltimore, Md., on Sunday afternoon. For Army (15-5), senior Brigid Duffy became the Patriot League's All-Time Leading Goal Scorer in the defeat.

How it Happened
- The Blue Jays struck first to open the game's scoring, but senior Allison Reilly found the equalizer splitting two defenders down low five minutes into the game to make it 1-1. Johns Hopkins scored the next four goals to make it 5-1 with five minutes left in the first quarter.
- Junior Geneva Milch Cesoni cut into the Blue Jays lead with an 8-meter shot that went high past the goalkeeper. Johns Hopkins responded with a goal of their own but in the closing minutes senior Brigid Duffy earned a free position that was initially saved but freshman Emma Ciocon picked up the loose ball and put it away to make it 6-3.
- Coming out of the first quarter, Johns Hopkins struck first to make it 7-3. Senior Lily Valentini cut into the lead with 11 minutes left in the half on a same side high shot that beat the Hopkins goalkeeper. The two teams traded goals with Reilly and Cesoni connecting on a fast break goal after freshman Maura Rigley beat the Hopkins attacker on the shot backup for the Black Knights fifth of the day.
- The Blue Jays would score the next three to make it 11-5. Army scored three in the final two minutes to make it 12-8. Valentini found the back of the net to make it 6-11 on the top right of the 8m and second later she repeated it to make it 7-11.
- The Blue Jays would add another before the end of the half, but in the closing seconds of the first half, Rigley picked up the loose ball and passed it to Duffy who connected with Reilly. Reilly put it nonstick side middle with 4 seconds left in the half.
- Starting the third quarter, the Blue Jays struck first but the Black Knights responded with a goal Valentini dished the ball down low to senior Chloe Garrett who scored to make it 13-9.
- At 8:51 in the third quarter, Duffy make history becoming the Patriot League's All-Time Leading Goal Scorer with Valentini passed it to a cutting Duffy to make it 13-10. Hopkins scored two more by Duffy faked and finished across the crease to make it 15-11.
- In the fourth quarter, the Blue Jays went on an 8-0 run to build the lead to 19-11. Duffy connected with Reilly to cut into the Hopkins lead, but Johns Hopkins responded with two more goals.
- In the closing minutes, Valentini added another on an inside behind the back goal to make it 21-13.
