No. 23/23 Women’s Lacrosse Earns First Patriot League Win at Boston

BOSTON – Army West Point women's lacrosse secured their first win of the Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon at Boston University (4-3, 0-1 Patriot) by a score of 15-11. Army (5-2, 1-0 Patriot) was led by senior Brigid Duffy's season high six goals, including her 200th career goal. The Black Knights had three players record at least three goals in the victory.

The Black Knights will continue Patriot League play hosting Loyola Md., on March 14 at Michie Stadium. First draw is set for 12 p.m.

- The Black Knights opened the scoring for the game quickly just over 40 seconds into the contest. Senior Lily Valentini on the left elbow found senior Brigid Duffy curling around the net who scored her 200th career goal.
- Army scored the next three to gain a 4-0 lead before the Terriers used a run of their own to tie it a 4-4. Army took a 5-4 lead into the first quarter break after Duffy fought for the ball back and stripped the BU goaltender and shot into the empty net in the closing seconds of the quarter.
- Starting the second quarter, Valentini and senior Allison Reilly combined for Valentini's first of the day. At 10:57, Reilly behind the net found senior Chloe Garrett at the top of the 8m. Garrett dodged over the top and took a side arm shot to extend the Black Knight lead to 7-4. Duffy added her second of the day to make it 8-4.
- Army limited the Terriers to just one goal in the second quarter taking an 8-5 lead into the half.
- Starting the third quarter, Duffy and junior Ryan Remaly started the scoring early under a minute and a half into the second half. Duffy behind the net found a cutting Remaly who beat the Boston U. goalkeeper up high and as she was fading away.
- Boston scored the next two goals to close the gap, but the Black Knights responded with two goals of their own to take an 11-7 lead into the final frame. In the waning seconds of the third quarter, Reilly connected with a wide-open Garrett on the backside for her third goal of the day.
- Starting the final quarter, Army used a three-goal run to extend the lead to 14-7, highlighted by two back-to-back goals by Valentini. With under a minute, left in the game Duffy scored her sixth and the final goal for the Black Knights, giving the Black Knights a 15-11 victory.
