GAME 1
Army faced an early test in the top of the first inning as Delaware opened the game with a leadoff single and later connected on a two-run home run, giving the Blue Hens a 2–0 lead.
Army starter Katelyn Flanders settled in after the long ball, recording a strikeout and a pop-up to limit the damage and keep the Black Knights within striking distance. Delaware was retired in order at the bottom of the first as Army looked to regain momentum.
Katelyn Flanders continued to work efficiently in the second and third innings, navigating traffic with poise by stranding a pair of runners in the second and working around a leadoff walk in the third. She induced weak contact and picked up key strikeouts to prevent Delaware from adding to its lead.
Army's offense responded in the bottom of the second with back-to-back singles by Caitlyn Newburn and Hannah Laub, and an RBI reached-on-error by Emma Murchison brought Army within one run.
After Delaware was held scoreless again in the top of the third, Army tied the game in the bottom half when Sienna Tepley walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Annie Christiana, and scored on Taylor Brown's RBI single to center field.
Breanna Izzo took over in the circle in the fourth inning and delivered immediate results, retiring Delaware in order on three ground balls to maintain the 2–2 tie.
Breanna Izzo continued to keep Delaware quiet in the fifth, allowing just a single while picking up a strikeout to end the inning. Army took advantage in the bottom of the fifth, as Tepley singled and later scored on Caitlyn Newburn's sacrifice fly, giving the Black Knights their first lead of the game at 3–2.
Breanna Izzo worked out of trouble in the sixth inning, stranding two runners after issuing a pair of walks and a stolen base, relying on timely outs and defensive support to preserve the lead.
With the game on the line in the seventh, Breanna Izzo was dominant, striking out all three batters she faced to close out the game and secure the 3–2 victory for Army. The Black Knights' pitching staff combined to limit Delaware to two runs while delivering strong command in the late innings, sealing a resilient comeback win.
GAME 2
In the first inning, Taylor Brown got on base hitting hard at shortstop, forcing an error, but was left stranded on the base paths.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes got out to a hot start. After a lineout, which was a tough snag made by Brown, Ohio State hit two singles followed by a home run to take a quick 3-0 lead. Amanda Eaglin shook off the home run quickly, earning two strikeouts to end the inning.
The Black Knights were unable to answer offensively in the second inning, going three and out, which included two strikeouts. In the bottom of the inning, Amanda Eaglin earned a strikeout with one on the first batter, then Ohio State used three singles to up its lead to 0-4. The Black Knights cut the Buckeyes short on earning more than one run, with Ashton White turning a double play from third base to third to end the second inning.
The Black Knights went three and out for the second straight inning at the top of the third. Sabrina Rebolledo grounded out, Sienna Tepley struck out swinging and Annie Christiana grounded out for the second time during the game.
Ohio State did major damage in the bottom of the third, scoring seven runs while only having five hits. It started when the Buckeyes hit a lead-off home run off Eaglin to make it a 0-5 deficit for Army. From there, freshman pitcher Ashlyn Wright entered the game in relief.
Once Ashlyn Wright entered the game, the Buckeyes were able to load the bases, drawing two walks and a hit by pitch. Then the Buckeyes plied on by hitting a grand slam, growing Army's deficit to 0-9. From there, junior pitcher Libby Levendoski entered the game.
The scoring continued for the Buckeyes, hitting a double followed by their third home run of the inning to make it a 0-11 deficit. Ohio State lined out, but then followed it with another double and a walk to put two on the base paths. Then, Sam Rodgers caught a pop-up, ending the third inning.
Army went three and out again at the top of the fourth inning, with Taylor Brown hitting a fly out, Ashton White lining out, and Caitlyn Newburn flying out. Breanna Izzo, Army's fourth pitcher, entered in the bottom of the fourth, only allowing one walk. Three putouts then sent the game into the top of the fifth.
In the top of the fifth, Breanna Coonfare was able to reach on an error. Coonfare advanced to second on a wild pitch, then ran to third on a fielder's choice. But Army was unable to convert a run, ending the game at 0-11.
