Men’s Tennis Downs FDU in Pair of Matches

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team took care of business on Saturday afternoon, defeated FDU 6-1 and 5-0 at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Army (9-2) lost the doubles point in the opening match but went undefeated the rest of the way, getting back into the win column after falling to Air Force last week.
In the opening match of the day, FDU won the No. 1 doubles 6-4 and the No. 2 doubles 6-2 to take the early 1-0 advantage. However, Army quickly responded by winning all six singles matches.
In the No. 1 spot, Jimin Jung took a home a 6-4, 6-3 win as he continues his impressive first season at West Point. In the No. 2 spot, Jackson Armistead had an impressive 6-2, 6-2 victory. Matias Feoli pulled out a three-set win on court three with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory. Alan Ton won in straight sets at No. 4, 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Tucker Culpepper won his singles match at No. 5, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). The No. 6 spot saw another freshman, Rudy Mazzola, come away with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win.
The Black Knights and Knights went at again, this time with Army winning 5-0. In doubles Marcus Sebastian and Culpepper won 6-3 at the top spot. At No. 2, Preston Achter and Mazzola won 6-1. Ton and Davis McDonald won 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles, Jack Hanna recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1. Sebastian dominated his No. 2 match, winning 6-1, 6-2. At No. 3, Daniel Choi recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win. McDonald won a marathon match at No. 4, 7-5, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (0).

Sunday's match against Quinnipiac has been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather. Army heads to the George Lott Classic in Chicago next week for matches against Dartmouth, DePaul and Cal Poly.
