Men’s Tennis Beats Pratt CC to Open Spring Season

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team kicked its spring season with a 5-2 victory over Pratt CC on Thursday night at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Army (1-0) lost the doubles point but rebounding in singles, winning five of the six matches to complete the season-opening team win.
Preston Achter and Davis McDonald recorded a 7-6 (5) doubles win in the No. 3 spot but Pratt CC recorded wins in the other two doubles matches to take the early 1-0 advantage into singles play.
After winning the doubles point, Pratt CC kept its foot on the pedal and extended its lead to 2-0 after picking up a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot. Alan Ton finally got Army on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. McDonald evened the score at two with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court five.
Freshman Rudy Mazzola gave the Black Knights its first lead of the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot. Matias Feoli clinched the team victory for Army with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the second position.
The final match of the night was played out, with Jackson Armistead recording at 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win in the top position.
