January 20, 2026 | Women's Track and Field
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point's Sabrina Sardar had an impressive showing in the Quaker Invitational this weekend and was named the Patriot League Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Sardar, a freshman from Hillsborough, N.J., finished third in the women's 800m with a blazing time of 2:10.09. The time ranks 43rd in the country this indoor season and is first in the Patriot League. Her time also ranks fourth in the program history.
"Sabrina has been quietly putting together a very strong resume of competitive results," said Director of Track and Field Mike Smith. "Saturday was the first indoor 800-meter race of her career, and she ran with the right mixture of aggression and smart decision making. She has shown a great deal of maturity in training and a willingness to work hard that will pay off in the future with significant improvements in her times and in her race outcomes."
Sardar has had an impressive opening campaign, as in addition to her showing at the Quaker Invitational, she has also finished second in the 400m at the West Point Invitational and fourth in the 500m at the Crowell Invitational.
She is the fourth Black Knight this indoor season to win a weekly conference honor.
Army will split the squad at a pair of meets this upcoming weekend. The Black Knights will head to the Penn Elite Invitational on Jan. 22-24 and the Dr. Sander Collegiate Invite (Columbia) on Jan. 23-24.
