Gymnastics Takes Home Three Individual Titles from West Point Open

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Gymnastics completed the 34th annual West Point Open on Saturday Jan. 17 with the individual competition. The Black Knights had three individual champions: Maddox Pabellon (Pommel Horse), Nick Lester (Vault), Noah Duran (Parallel Bars).
On the Floor Routine, had two individual qualifiers with freshman Thomas Morrow and junior Max Rubin. The highest individual finisher from Army was Morrow who finished in third place with a 13.000. On the Pommel Horse, the Black Knights secured three individual finalists: senior Maddox Pabellon, sophomore Jake Prabhakaran and junior Noah Duran. Army had two top five finishers in the event.
Pabellon secured his third West Point Open Pommel Horse Title and second consecutive with a 14.200 on the Pommel Horse. Prabhakaran earned a 13.500 on the apparatus for a fourth-place finish. The Black Knights had two qualifiers on the Still Rings: sophomore Cash Johnston and senior Carter Beck.
In the Vault event, junior Nick Lester continued his success from the first night of the West Point Open, taking home his first West Point Open Individual Title with a 13.850. Duran and Johnston competed in the Parallel Bars both earning top five places, with Duran securing the Parallel Bars title with 13.300. In the final event, the Horizontal Bar, Johnston represented the Black Knights securing a second-place finish with a 12.850.

The Black Knights will now shift their focus to ECAC foe Simpson with a dual meet scheduled for Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa.
