Matteson Named PFF College Defensive Player of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point senior safety Collin Matteson has been named the Pro Football Focus Defensive Player of the Week following a standout performance in the Black Knights' thrilling 24-21 road victory at Kansas State on Saturday night.
Matteson was instrumental in leading an Army defense that limited the Wildcats to just 246 total yards and 13 first downs. The senior sealed the game in the closing moments, intercepting Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson to secure the win.
In addition to the takeaway, Matteson broke up three passes and was a constant force in coverage, holding Johnson to a 5.2 passer rating when targeted. He also added five tackles to round out a complete effort in the secondary.
Matteson earned an 84.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, including an 88.9 coverage grade, ranking among the top defensive backs nationally in Week 2.
