July 31, 2025 | Women's Track and Field
WEST POINT, N.Y. — Emily Fink, USMA Class of 2025, will be competing in the hammer throw at the United States of America Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, on Thursday.
The West Point graduate and Army Track and Field alumna is currently ranked as the No. 11 hammer thrower in the United States.
She will be the fifth thrower in the order of the sixteen-woman final. She will get three attempts in the preliminary round, with the top eight throws advancing to the final round, where the finalists will get three more attempts.
Emily Fink concluded her collegiate career as one of the most decorated field athletes in Army Track and Field's program history.
The 2025 graduate holds both the indoor and outdoor program record in the shot put plus the outdoor hammer throw, and holds the second-best marks in indoor weight throw. She also holds several records in the Patriot League record book, including indoor and outdoor shot put as well as hammer throw.
Fink's postseason accolades throughout her collegiate career include earning outdoor track and field First Team All-Patriot League three times in her career (2022; 2024-25) and the indoor track and field All-Patriot League First Team and Second Team twice (2022, 2025) each in her career. She was also named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2022.
Emily Fink was also named an NCAA Outdoor All-American (2024) after her first appearance in the NCAA Outdoor Championship, and has participated in Olympic Trials. For all her postseason accomplishments, Fink was also named this year's Women's AAA Award winner.
The women's hammer throw at the USATF Outdoor Championships is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start time.
Hear from Coach Smith:
Track and field at the highest levels is a world sport, so the rhythm of the championship meets is not always convenient with our domestic academic calendar. The IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation) World Championships in Track and Field in 2025 will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13-21. The United States championships (7/31-8/3) begin today, and for the 2nd year in a row, the Army team will be represented at the meet. Emily Fink '25 is fresh off a record-breaking season in 2025 and has continued her training throughout the summer in anticipation of competing for a spot on the USA team heading to Tokyo in September. She has been home in Wisconsin, practicing locally, and has been eager to get back in the ring. There are only three collegians in the field of sixteen, and Emily owns the best mark (71.12/233' 4") of the collegians. Five women in the field own the world standard (74.00m/242') that is required to advance to Tokyo. Emily finished 10th at the Olympic Trials a year ago, so she has been in this environment before. We are looking forward to seeing what she can do in her final collegiate event.
