Heckel Jr. Earns Third Straight GCAA All-America Scholar Selection

NORMAN, Okla. – Army Golfer John Heckel Jr. was named an All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Associate of America as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Heckel Jr., on the course, was named to the Haskins Award List and was a Palmer Cup candidate. For the 2025 Patriot League Player of the Year, this is his third straight selection.
He finished seventh at the Patriot League Championship at 1-over par in the three rounds and become one of two Black Knight golfers to be named Patriot League Rookie and Player of the Year during their careers. Heckel Jr. was crucial to Army's success on the course, winning the CIC Cup and helped the Black Knights to a Star Match victory winning his foursome and singles matches.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
