Baseball Drops Opening Game of Championship Series

WORCESTER, Mass. – Army West Point Baseball has played some of its best baseball over the past several years when its backs are against the wall.

The team will get another chance to prove that Monday, when it looks to keep its season alive against the Holy Cross Crusaders, after falling 12-1 at Fitton Field Sunday.Â

The Crusaders pushed runs across in each of the first four innings, with Army scoring its first run in the top of the fourth, on a Michael Delph RBI groundout.Â

Starting pitcher Andrew Berg took a three-inning decision, while Kaden Youmans pitched the ensuing six frames. The freshman reliever collected three strikeouts.Â

Holy Cross extended its lead with runs in the sixth and seventh innings.Â

3-for-4: Justin Lehman went 3-for-4 with a double. Sunday was his second consecutive three-hit game.Â
