Diaz, Phelps Named as Patriot League Athlete of the Week Winners

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Army West Point Men's Track and Field earned two of the three Patriot League Athlete of the Week honors, with the league announcing the honorees on Tuesday.
First, Anthony Diaz was named this week's Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
The junior was named to the honor after winning gold in the 10,000 meters at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a time of 29:29.22. His mark ranks third in the Patriot League this season.
Second, freshman John Phelps was named as one of the Patriot League's Men Outdoor Co-Rookies of the Week.
The freshman earned the award after Phelps finished second in the pole vault at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a mark of 4.86m (15' 11.25"). The mark now sits tied as the fourth-best mark in the League this season.
Up next, the duo and the Black Knights head to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia. The meet will begin on April 18 and last through April 19.
