Gymnastics Earns Second at USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals; Sees Seven Garner USAG All-American Honors

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Army West Point gymnastics placed runner-up as a team at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals while seeing seven USAG All-Americans named in Saturday's event finals.

Army secured the second-place finish with a 315.050 team score while Navy topped the field with a 320.700.
The Black Knights saw seven garner USA Gymnastics All-American recognition with top-six individual finishes on Saturday, featuring Jaden Blank, Joseph Buselmeier, Noah Duran, Conor Heary, Nick Lester, Maddox Pabellon and Max Rubin.
The second-place finish matched the program's highest-ever finish at the meet, having also tabbed runner-up laurels in 2003 and 2016.
Army sent seven athletes to Saturday's individual event finals, with Black Knights advancing in every event on Friday.
Army placed second in four events on the team side (floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars, high bar) while placing third on vault.
Army's 53.750 mark on floor exercise was led by Joseph Buselmeier's 13.850 while Max Rubin logged a 13.500 for both to advance to Saturday's event finals. Buselmeier's mark was good for second among all competitors.
Pommel horse saw both Maddox Pabellon and Noah Duran qualify, as Army boasted an eventual team score of 52.750 in the event. Pabellon was in second-place overall with his 14.250 while Duran posted a 13.550 for third.
Both Conor Heary and Noah Duran qualified on parallel bars as Heary had the top mark on Friday with a 13.750. Duran came in with a 12.850 to help push Army's team score to 51.500.
Buselmeier became a dual qualifier on high bar with a 13.050 showing while Jaden Blank's 13.000 meant that he would join his teammate on Saturday. The event marked the fourth in which Army placed runner-up as a team with its 51.750.
Nick Lester placed fourth on vault to qualify with a 13.900 while Heary had a top-six finish on still rings (13.150) to pace Army and advance to Saturday in his second event.
Heary came out and stole the show on Saturday's parallel bars routine as his 13.800 comfortably gave him the event title.
Duran placed fourth in the event, coming in with a 13.100. Heary also tabbed fifth on still rings with a 12.950.
Pabellon claimed the runner-up spot on pommel horse with a 14.100 while Lester placed third on vault with a 14.050 as Army continued to medal.
Blank (12.950) and Buselmeier (12.700) each logged top-five finishes on high bar to earn All-American honors while Buselmeier logged a 12.900 on floor exercise to land in the top-six yet again. Rubin led the way on FX with a fourth-place finish (13.050).
The Black Knights will look to keep the momentum going at the ECAC Championships, slate for Saturday, April 5th in Indianola, Iowa.
