Women's Lacrosse Posts 19-8 Victory at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, PA – Army West Point women's lacrosse (6-2, 2-1 Patriot League) scored a season-high 19 goals in a 19-8 victory over Lehigh (3-5, 0-2 Patriot League) on Friday night.
Allison Reilly led the way with a season-high seven goals while Geneva Milch Cesoni added a career-high four goals and Gabrielle Mirak netted a hat trick.
Brigid Duffy logged three points, five draw controls and two caused turnovers with her second giving her the new program record for caused turnovers with 64 in her career.
Lindsey Serafine played the first half in between the pipes for Army while Sherry Feng got the nod in the second half and made a pair of saves.
The Black Knights got out to a 3-0 lead within the first 5:20 of the contest, as Reilly starting the scoring with an unassisted tally before Duffy fed Gabrielle Mirak for Army's second. Reilly notched her second shortly after to bring the score to 3-0 at the first media timeout.
Army continued to build its lead in the first, scoring three straight to end the frame after the Mountain Hawks got on the board to make it 4-1. Reilly netted her third of the quarter on a free-position with Garrett and Milch Cesoni getting on the scoresheet. Mirak got her second in the closing seconds to make it a 7-1 game at the end of the first.
Lehigh opened the second quarter with the first two goals as Army was blanked for the opening six minutes, but the Black Knights would respond with three in three minutes to make it a 10-3 contest. Duffy got her first of the contest with a free-position tally while Ryan Remaly scored while woman-up and Reilly tabbed an eight-meter strike.
Milch Cesoni got her second of the half with 2:02 to play as the Black Knights took an 11-5 lead into halftime. Army won 13 of 18 draw controls in the first half to outshoot the Mountain Hawks 26-9 in the opening half hour.
Army's offense continued to be on the front foot in the third quarter as Army scored four in the four minutes after Lehigh opened the half with a goal. Milch Cesoni secured her second career hat trick while Mirak collected her third goal and Reilly deposited her fifth. Army eventually led 15-6 heading into the final quarter.
Reilly marked a new season-high with her seventh of the game in the fourth, while Milch Cesoni did the same with her fourth of the night. Army scored the final three goals of the game, with the final being the first career goal from plebe Jordan Roessler.
Army had eight different goal scorers in total and outshot the Mountain Hawks 44-20 for the game and 32-11 in shots on goal.
Army will turn its focus to No. 5 Stanford as the Black Knights will host the Cardinal on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
