Baseball Travels to Lehigh Valley for Four Games

EASTON, Pa. – Army West Point Baseball will face Lafayette and Lehigh this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders, visiting the Lafayette Leopards Saturday and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks Sunday.
First pitch for Game 1 of both twin bills is set for 12:00 p.m. Both doubleheaders will be streamed on ESPN+.
Notes and Storylines
» Army defeated Maine in a midweek contest Wednesday, 14-4 in eight innings. It was the third run-rule win for Army this season, with prior run-rule wins coming at Air Force March 2 (16-5) and vs. UAlbany March 12 (14-4).
The Black Knights drew 10 free passes in Wednesday's game, five by walk and five by hit-by-pitch. Mark Abell had four RBIs Wednesday to compliment a 3-for-4 day at the plate, also reaching base by walk.
» William Parker returned to the lineup in Army's series against Fordham. The Black Knights' second-leading hitter a season ago made his season debut March 7, and hit his first home run of the year March 9. He recorded a 4-for-5 afternoon vs. UAlbany March 12.
In Game 2 of Army's doubleheader at Navy March 15, Parker went 2-for-5 with a first inning RBI double.
» Freshman John McKillop was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week March 3.
McKillop—who made his first career starts Saturday and Sunday—was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple Saturday, and 3-for-5 Sunday with four RBIs. The native of Charlotte, N.C. was placed in the DH slot both games.
In Army's series finale at Navy March 16, McKillop went 3-for-3 with a trio of doubles, the first three-double game from a Black Knight since Anthony Giachin at Lehigh May 26, 2021 in Game 1 of the Patriot League Championship Series.
McKillop started at first base in all three matchups at Navy, his first starts at first base after previously logging starts at right field and the DH spot.
» Chris Barr was a double away from the cycle in Army's series finale at Navy Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a seventh inning home run.
» A season ago, Army clinched the Patriot League regular season title with a 3-0 win over Lehigh in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Doubleday Field May 4. Starting pitcher Matthew Ronnebaum took a no-hitter to the final inning of the seven-inning contest.

Army returns home for a five-game homestand beginning Wednesday, with a 3:30 p.m. matchup vs. Fairfield.
Next weekend will see the Black Knights take on Navy for a Saturday doubleheader before hosting Bucknell for two games Sunday.
