Men's Basketball Breaks Program Record in Win Over Gallaudet
December 07, 2025 | Men's Basketball
WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (4-7) returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon, earning a win over the Gallaudet University Bison (0-7, 0-2), 111-53.
The win set two program records for the Black Knights. First, the total 111 points served as the most amount of points Army has scored in a game that did not go to overtime in program record. The most points Army has scored in a game was in their 116-110 double-overtime win over Bucknell last season.
Second, Amy set a program record with the most made three-pointers in a single game with 20 three-pointers. The former program record that was snapped was 18, set against Mount Saint Mary on Nov. 12, 2024.
Five Black Knights finished the game in double digits, with Kevin McCarthy leading the way with 18 points, which matches his career high. Ryan Curry finished second in scoring with 12 points while also adding eight assists and five rebounds.
How It Happened.
Army opened the game with complete control, setting the tone from the opening possession as Ryan Curry drilled a three on the first trip down the floor. Jorn Everson quickly added a transition layup off a feed from Kevin McCarthy, and the Black Knights jumped out to an early 8–0 lead behind another Curry three created by Everson's steal. Gallaudet called a timeout less than two minutes into the game, but Army's defensive pressure continued to dictate the pace.
Jacen Holloway got rolling midway through the opening stretch, knocking down a jumper, finishing a fast-break layup, and later burying a three to extend the margin. McCarthy joined the scoring run with a transition three assisted by Curry as Army pushed the lead to 18–2. Even after a few turnovers, the Black Knights controlled the glass—Holloway and Tate Laczkowski repeatedly cleaned up misses to prevent Gallaudet from gaining momentum.
After a media timeout and a wave of substitutions, Army momentarily cooled from deep but continued generating open looks through offensive rebounds. Everson and Curry connected again in transition for a layup that made it 20–4, and Jackson Mayo added a three minutes later to push the lead back to double digits. Gallaudet found a brief spark with back-to-back buckets from Jory Valencia, but Army answered immediately with an O'Keefe corner three, keeping the margin comfortable.
Even as the Black Knights rotated to a deeper bench group near the 10-minute mark, the team continued dominating the offensive boards, with Joshua Eli and Alex Engro extending multiple possessions. Though a brief stretch of missed threes slowed the scoring, Army's defensive pressure forced several turnovers, highlighted by Curry jumping a passing lane for a steal.
Holloway re-entered and wasted no time, finishing at the rim again to reach 10 first-half points. Tate Laczkowski and Furman added fast-break layups, while Curry's third three of the half stretched the lead to 35–20 inside the five-minute mark. Mayo responded to a Gallaudet three with another triple of his own, and moments later Everson hammered home a dunk on the break off a feed from Mayo to push Army to 40 points.
McCarthy added another layup off a baseline drive, and Mayo hit his third three of the period to give Army a 45–25 lead entering the final minute. After trading late buckets, Army closed the half with a defensive stop and a free throw from Eli, taking a commanding 46–27 lead into intermission.
Army opened the second half by reloading its starting unit, bringing back Curry, Holloway, McCarthy, Laczkowski, and Everson. After an early blocked layup, the Black Knights quickly reestablished control. Jorn Everson jumped a passing lane for a steal, and Kevin McCarthy buried a three on the ensuing possession. Moments later, McCarthy scored again at the rim to extend the lead, and Holloway turned a steal into a fast-break assist for Everson to make it 53–27.
Gallaudet briefly halted the run with a jumper, but Army responded immediately with another McCarthy three, pushing the lead past the 25-point mark. Tate Laczkowski added a transition layup off a feed from Holloway, and after another stop, Holloway finished inside to stretch the margin to 60–32. Curry then drilled a deep three, followed by a Furman three, as the Black Knights quickly pushed the advantage past 30.
Even after a round of substitutions around the 15-minute mark, Army continued to overwhelm Gallaudet. Joshua Eli scored inside off a pass from McCarthy, and McCarthy followed with yet another three—his fifth of the afternoon—to make it 71–36. McCarthy hit a pull-up jumper on the next trip, and Jaxson Bell joined the barrage with a wing three to push the margin to 76–39.
Army kept its foot down as the pace accelerated. Furman knocked down another deep three, Eli converted a fast-break layup plus the free throw, and Bell finished in transition to push the lead toward 50. Eli added another layup moments later after grabbing multiple offensive rebounds on the same possession. Engro then joined the scoring with a fast-break layup off a steal, and Bell buried his third three of the half to give Army 98 points with five minutes left.
With the bench unit closing out the game, the Black Knights continued to execute. Dylan Murans tipped in an offensive rebound for Army's 100th point, and Jahaan Green splashed a transition three on the next possession. Benner later drilled a three from the left wing, and Green followed with a putback and a free throw to push Army past 110 points. The defense held strong to the final horn, highlighted by Green blocking Gallaudet's last-second three-point attempt as Army closed out a dominant 111–53 victory.
