McCloskey Earns AHA Defenseman of the Week Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Army West Point freshman Lukas McCloskey earned the first Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Week title of the season as announced Tuesday by the league office.
McCloskey scored the only goal during regulation for the Black Knights in their season opener at Union on Saturday that resulted in a 1-1 tie.
Army went on to win the shootout over Garnet Chargers, outscoring them 2-0 over three rounds with goals from Dylan Wegner and Barron Woodring.
A native of Newport Beach, CA, McCloskey scored his first collegiate goal in his collegiate debut at Union. He took two shots during the game on Saturday and recorded one block to add to his performance as Army held Union scoreless for nearly 50 minutes of action.
McCloskey is the first freshman to earn the AHA Defenseman of the Week title for Army since the 2023-24 season when Mac Gadowsky garnered the honor as a plebe on Feb. 12, 2024.
