Men’s Rugby Takes Down Mary Washington on the Road
October 04, 2025 | Men's Rugby
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Army West Point men's rugby used a workmanlike performance in both haves to pull away from the Mary Washington Eagles, 32-7.
The Black Knights move to 4-1 overall and 2-1 vs. Rugby East foes in 2025-26.
Howie Heller led the way with 10 points for the Black Knights, who recorded their fourth consecutive win over their foes from Virginia to open a three-match road swing.
Army never trailed in the contest. Heller put the Black Knights ahead in a 14th minute penalty, before John Hartford found the try zone five minutes later to make it 10-0 with the Heller conversion.
Two minutes before halftime, George Engels recorded a try, which was followed by another Heller conversion to make it 17-0 Army at the break.
The Black Knights picked up where they left off at the other end of the break, with Gabe Savage finding the try zone eight minutes after halftime on a maul. And while the Eagles would get on the scoreboard two minutes later to make it 22-7, that would be the closest the home team got, with Howie Heller scoring a try at the 58' mark.
Dakota Wagner would score in the 64' to make it 32-7 Army, giving the Black Knights plenty of beathing room down the stretch.
