Cross Country Set for Star Meet
October 17, 2025 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point cross country programs are set to compete against Navy in America's Meet, part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA, on Saturday morning at the West Point Golf Course.
The women's 6k race will kick off the festivities at 10:30 a.m. and be followed by the alma mater's at 10:55 and the presentation of the Athena Trophy to the winning team. The Black Knights have won the last two meets, which included a 20-35 victory in Annapolis last season. The 15-point margin of victory was the largest for Army since 2005 when it won by 21.
Army's Charlotte Richman won the 2024 season with a time of 20:50.86. A senior from Portland, Ore., Richman finished 76th at the Paul Short Run just over two weeks ago.
The men's race, an 8k course, is slated to begin at 11:20 a.m., with the alma mater's being played at 11:50. Navy recorded an 18-45 victory last season. Men's cross country is looking for its first victory over the Midshipmen since the 2018 race.
Senior captain Nathan Davis was the only top 10 finisher for Army last year with a time of 23:42.50. Davis competed in the Paul Short Run two weeks ago and finished 73rd.
Following the morning of competition, a special ceremony and plaque unveiling will be held near Shea Stadium at 2:30 p.m. to recognize and honor the first Army West Point women's cross country coach and team.
Coaches Corner – Director of Cross Country Mike Smith
"We are excited to host the men's and women's cross country Star Meet this weekend on the West Point Golf Course. On a weekend where the vast majority of NCAA cross country teams will be traveling all over the country seeking out the best 'super meet' with competitive field sizes of 20-40 teams, Army and Navy will line up in a winner take all race. Twelve runners from each team will toe the line and the race will produce a winner and a loser. It is pretty simple."
