KENSINGTON, Conn. – The Army West Point golf team currently sits fourth in the field at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate after round one on Saturday at Shuttle Meadow Country Club.
The Black Knights finished the opening 18 with a team score of 287 (+3). Rhode Island, Sacred Heart and Manhattan share the lead at the top at even par. Pablo Lacayo of the Pioneers, Patrick Scenna of Monmouth and Tyler Bruneau of the Rams are atop the leaderboard at 3-under following the first round.
TOURNAMENT NOTES:
• John Heckel Jr. is currently in fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 2-under 69 for his second under par round of the season.
• He posted five birdies and was 2-under on the front nine.
• Tyson Sparks posted an even par round of 71 in his second tournament as a Black Knight.
• Sparks had six birdies in his round.
• Josh Kim finished his first round at 1-over with a 72, including three birdes.
