Women's Soccer Grounds Air Force in Thriller 4-3
September 14, 2024 | Women's Soccer
USAFA, Colo. – The Army West Point women's soccer team earned their second consecutive win over Air Force on Friday night in a thrilling 4-3 come from behind win. It's the first time the Black Knights have accomplished this feat since 1992-93.
The game was chaotic from the very beginning with the Falcons racing out to a 2-0 lead by the 33rd minute.
Then the Army offense went to work and went to work fast. Brigid Duffy netted her third goal of the season in the 37th minute to make it a 2-1 game. Then just seconds later in the 38th minute Jordan Follenweider scored a goal, tying things up off an assist from Kaelan Bradley. Then two minutes after that Duffy went right back to work with her second of the night giving Army their first lead of game. Three goals in 3:05 are the fastest three goals in program history.
Army went into the break up 3-2. The Falcons wouldn't go away however, tying things up at 3-3 in the 56th minute.
Senior captain Kaelan Bradley wasn't leaving Colorado without a win though. In the 63rd minute took a pass from Grace Edvalds and Hannah Pohlidal and slotted it home giving the Black Knights a 4-3 lead.
Air Force's best chance to tie the game came in the 79th minute but a leaping Sage Strohman made the save. Strohman was solid in net making eight saves on the night.
That would do it and Army would earn the right to sing second. The win moves head coach Tracy Chao to 4-3 in service academy matches, winning her last four.
The Black Knights wrap up nonconference play with a 6-2-0 record and now look forward to a home match against American on Sep. 20 back at Malek Stadium.
