Baseball Drops Game 1 of Patriot League Semifinal Series

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Baseball dropped Saturday's Patriot League Semifinal Game 1 4-3 to the Bucknell Bison, and will have to keep its season alive with two wins Monday.
The Black Knights rallied late, but ran out of outs and will have to avoid running out of games in the final two matchups the semifinal series.
After trailing 4-0 midway through the seventh inning, Ethan Ellis doubled to get Army on the scoreboard. Later in the frame, the club got within two, when Ellis scored as Thomas Schreck reached on a throwing error by the Bucknell shortstop.
Addison Ainsworth singled in the ninth to bring home Coleson Titus, who reached base via a one-out walk.
Army stranded two runners on base in the final stanza.
Bucknell struck first in the second inning on a solo home run. After adding a second run in the fifth on an RBI single, a two-run home in the seventh made it a four-run game.

7: Starting pitcher Justin Lehman pitched seven innings, but took the decision.
1: After Steven Graver pitched 1.2 innings in relief, Andrew Berg needed just one pitch to retire the Bison in the ninth.

Army will look to recover from a semifinal round hole for the second consecutive year, after overcoming a series deficit last season against Lafayette on its way to an eventual tournament title.

The Black Knights need to beat Bucknell twice on Monday in order to extend their season and advance to the Patriot League Championship Series next weekend.
