Army Drops Doubleheader to No. 24 BU

WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Army West Point softball team (4-21, 0-2 PL) opened up league play on Friday afternoon against no. 24 Boston University (24-3, 2-0 PL). The Black Knights fell in both games, 9-3 and 9-0 (5 inn.).
Game 1:
Army's starting pitcher, Amanda Eaglin, left BU scoreless in the first three innings.
In the bottom of the second, Army's Mikayla Klepfer singled through the left side to send Caitlyn Newburn home and get the Black Knights on the board first.
Following her lead in the second inning, Sam Bocis also singled to send Julia Farris home and advance Army to a 2-0 lead.
In the third inning, Ellie Caldwell singled to center field to advance Kayla Edwards to bring Army up 3-0.
The Terriers began to find their rhythm in the fourth inning and scored two which cut the deficit to one.
Thanks to a pitching change for BU to Kasey Ricard, the Black Knights were unable to regain the momentum and were scoreless for the remainder of the game.
BU, on the other hand, carried over all of their momentum and ended up scoring seven more in the game including two homers from Allison Boaz and Kylie Doherty.
Army fell, 9-3.
Game 2:
The Terriers carried their momentum over from the first game and went up to a quick 1-0 score in the top of the first.
Army, struggling to find their momentum, was scoreless in the game and unable to get a hit off due to great pitching from BU's Richard.
BU however, went on a scoring frenzy in the game going up 9-0 and ending the game in early in five innings.

Army will finish the series on Sunday when they take on BU at 12:00 PM. The game will be streamed for fans on ESPN+.
