Army West Point Athletic Association (AWPAA) Unveils Strategic Organizational Advancements

WEST POINT, NY. – Mike Buddie, Director of Athletics for Army West Point, has revealed a series of strategic enhancements to the organizational structure, signaling a commitment to adaptability and excellence in the dynamic landscape of intercollegiate athletics.
In an effort to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics and ensure continued success, Buddie announced key promotions and reorganization within the department. "We continually look to position our department for success" stated Director of Athletics, Mike Buddie. "We have an exceptional staff with diverse backgrounds with an unwavering commitment to excellence in providing a premium experience for cadet-athletes."
Dan McCarthy will continue leadership of Internal Operations units, simultaneously, Tom Theodorakis will continue to spearhead all External Operations units driving forward with key enhancements.

Mike Resnick – Associate Athletics Director, Internal Operations

Mike Resnick – Associate Athletics Director, Internal Operations
- Resnick, who has been with the department since 2013, will now lead the Internal Operations unit including game operations, event management, team operations, equipment operations and camp operations. Resnick also manages the organization's strategic partnership with Nike and coordinates all special events. Resnick is also a key component of the annual Army-Navy football game operations.
Robert Brown – Assistant Athletics Director, Internal Operations
- Brown is in his 6th year with Army West Point athletics and serves as the organization's director of camps, a key coordinator for both neutral site competitions and special events hosted at West Point. Brown also coordinates key home football logistics operations.
Amanda Johnson – Director, Game Operations and Event Management
- Johnson is responsible for all home game operations coordination including scheduling, game contracts, event management, security and fan operations. Johnson also serves as the lead on all home football command center operations.
Emily Polanowicz – Director, Team Operations
- Polanowicz leads all team support operations functions including team travel. Polanowicz also supports the organization's equipment operations and serves as the assistant director for camp operations.
Mike Richard – Assistant AD, Revenue Strategy
- Richard has been a member of the athletics department since November 2013 and has played a major role in the department's revenue generating marketing efforts. For many years, he has been responsible for the creation and execution of the Army-Navy Game Uniform Microsite and earned the NACMA gold award and a first-place submission for a lead generation campaign in the 2022-23 academic year at the 2023 NACMA convention. Richard will transition from the Assistant Athletics Director, Digital Marketing to Assistant Athletics Director, Revenue Strategy and will now have oversight of both Digital Marketing and Ticketing units.
Brett Rorie – Assistant AD, Creative Video & Live Events
- Rorie will now oversee both Creative Video and Live Events/Broadcasting. Rorie joined the department in January 2021 and supported major feature videos that elevate the stories of cadet-athletes. He is a winner of the 2023 SVG College Sports Media Award, presented by NACDA for the 2022 Army-Navy Uniform Reveal Video.
Eric Szczepinski – Assistant AD, Athletic Communications
- Szczepinski joined Army West Point in July 2022 and was promoted from Director, Athletic Communications to Assistant Athletics Director, Athletic Communications. In his role, he serves as the primary media contact for the football program, overseeing media coordination for Head Coach Jeff Monken, assistant coaches, and cadet-athletes, while overseeing the communications office making up the coverage of all 26 varsity sports.
Austin McClain – Assistant AD, Marketing and Fan Engagement
- McClain has recently been added to the external staff and will oversee all marketing and fan engagement efforts for Army West Point Athletics. He has familiarity with the American Athletic Conference spending the last three years at UNC–Charlotte. He will start in his position in mid-February.
Scott Robson – Associate AD, Business Development & Revenue Generation
- Robson has supported the Athletics department since August 2008 and has been promoted multiple times within the external departments. Robson will continue to have Athletic Communications, Revenue Strategy + eCommerce & Ticketing report to him, as well as focus on pivotal business development partnerships with Learfield (Corporate Partnerships), Legends (Premium Sales & Hospitality), REVELxp (Premium Tailgates), Food & Beverage, and Memorabilia.
Sydney Griffin - Associate AD, External Strategy and Operations
- Griffin has been with the athletic department since 2021 and received a promotion last in March from Assistant to Associate Athletics Director, External Strategy and Operations. In addition to her responsibilities, she will now oversee both Marketing and Fan Engagement, and have Creative Video and Live events units reporting to her.
These strategic moves are aligned with the Army West Point Athletics "Fruits of Victory" Strategic Plan that underline the commitment to excellence and innovation, ensuring the continued success and positive trajectory of the department.
